Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. Responsible to the Institutional Facilities Work Control Team Lead for developing and/or reviewing work packages including time, material, and labor estimates, written step-by-step work instructions, procedures, and/or safety and testing requirements for the implementation and control of operations, maintenance, or modification of work activities within a given facility or area. Specific planning duties may be related to mechanical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological equipment, policies, and procedures and may also include resolving work restraints and bringing work packages to final closure. Work Control Planner 2 ($72,800 - $115,500) The successful candidate will: Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. Assures safety and security compliance, maintains required safety and security training, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security Prepare, review, and issue equipment and/or system modification, corrective maintenance, and/or preventative maintenance work packages in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations. Analyze time and material requirements for work activity. Assist in the preparation of detailed specifications for materials and labor estimates. Assist in the development of step-by-step instructions for work. Track and expedites established priority of work packages. Assist in preparing and/or reviews efficient and specific instructions for the isolation, containment or de-energizing various mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological systems according to established procedures and regulations. Perform various functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development including, but not limited to, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, retrieval and review, and/or training. Understand and adhere to all Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to work control and planning. Ensure all work control results, materials, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements.
Work Control Planner 3 ($79,200 - $129,000) In addition to the duties outlined above, the Work Control Planner 3 will be required to: Mentor lower level Planners, providing guidance and training. Evaluate processes, programs and procedures for potential improvements. Provide functional and operational direction to reporting maintenance/operations support, and/or clerical employees, if assigned.

Ability to fully understand work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures. Ability to fully understand and interpret various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics. Ability to fully utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work-planning activities. Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting work control and planning. Ability to fully conceptualize and communicate major elements of work control and planning to both technical and non-technical personnel. Skill in the preparation and presentation of work control reports. Full understanding of the Laboratory's work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures. Additional Job Requirements for Work Control Planner 3 In addition to the Job Requirements outlined above, qualification at the Work Control Planner 3 level requires: Ability to work independently under minimal direction. Extensive experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending highly creative solutions on unique and/or complex issues affecting work control and planning Extensive experience in the preparation and presentation of work control reports.
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable. Desired Qualifications: Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM.
