Software Developer 2 ($79,200 - $129,000) The selected candidate will work as an experienced Java JEE developer to support development efforts and maintenance of the EDRMS Documentum and Aproove systems and their related applications. Responsibilities Include: Designs, develops, modifies, tests, debugs and evaluates enterprise software to meet the requirements for a wide array of customers. Works closely with EDRMS Team Developers and System Analysts to implement solutions for various customers across different applications. Able to work with vendors, and platform specialists to apply, test, and verify updates and upgrades to institutional systems.
Software Developer 3 ($96,100 - $159,000) In addition to what was outlined at the Software Developer 2 level, the Software Developer 3 level will: Under limited supervision, work with team architect to develop automated solutions for the LANL’s EMC Document Management Platform. Utilize gained knowledge and experience with an enterprise document management platform to define, design, analyze and document project requirements. Use independent judgment for determining course of action to accomplish objectives. Use a broad range of advanced technical skills to solve complex technical issues. Work with document control specialists to develop training and testing plans to support an enterprise system.

The work experience must show progressively increasing levels of technical skills and complexity of work. Familiarity with JDK editions and versions including Oracle/Sun, IBM, and OpenJDK. Additional Job Requirements for Software Developer 3: In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires: 1-3 years of Documentum 6.5 or higher development, engineering and/or system administration support (Documentum Content Server, Webtop/WDK, DFC, etc.). Ability to work with a team to plan and implement solutions to proposed Documentum initiatives. Ability to serve in many roles within the team by demonstrating they can develop, refactor, and aid in maintenance and deployment of a Documentum system, including creating new docbases and repositories, managing and configuring index servers, and coordinating with DBA to create and update Documentum databases. Knowledge and experience working directly with customers and stakeholders at all levels, maintaining a good rapport, and the ability assess and implement requirements based on the client’s needs. Proficient knowledge of application development methodologies ranging from traditional Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to incremental development, agile development including SCRUM, Kanban, and extreme programming frameworks. In addition to installing, configuring, and patching Java Application Servers (above), a specific knowledge and/or preference to managing Documentum deployments using WebLogic (WLS 12 and above). Proficient using Java frameworks including JEE, Spring, Struts and persistence frameworks including Hibernate for application development. Demonstrated experience in integrating multiple COTS or custom applications. Familiarity with JUnit, Eggplant, or other automated testing tools.
Education/Experience at Software Developer 2 level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Education/Experience at Software Developer 3 level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 8 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable. Desired Qualifications: Familiarity with workflow and business processes engines such as Nintex, Aproove, Pega BPM, etc. Familiarity with Jenkins or other popular Continuous Integration (CI) tools. Demonstrated experience working well with customers and other stakeholders; ability to understand customer, requirements expressed in customer language, and formulate technical solutions that meet those requirements. Demonstrated experience working closely with DBAs and System Administrators in the development, maintenance, and support of systems. Familiarity with Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, or other containerization technologies. Excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills.
This position requires Q clearance access authorization. Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain DOE clearances, which normally requires US citizenship. Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM with the potential for teleworking from a location within 2 hours ground commute of this location.
