Among A-3’s core technical areas of expertise are development efforts focused on advanced RF systems, electromagnetic effects, electrical and mechanical reverse engineering, mechanical design and evaluation, cyber-physical analysis and guiding lower TRL efforts into functional solutions. To support these mission goals, A-3 currently has two openings as Electrical Systems Engineers for individuals interested in working in a multidisciplinary group consisting of engineers, scientists, technicians, machinists working to transform concepts and designs into deliverable products to meet Global Security mission deliverables. The desired candidates primary functions will be utlizaiton of core engineering principles to design, construct, prototype, test and analyze electrical systems. The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a team typically operating on short operational timescales. Most project work is conducted at the Q and SCI levels. This position will be filled at either the R&D Engineer 1 or 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. R&D Engineer 1 ($87,200 - $142,500) To support the mission of the duties outlined above, the R&D Engineer 1 will be required to: Contribute to the development, design, testing, fabrication, and installation of R&D projects including schedule development, cost estimates, and project status reports. Collaborate with team members on designs with internal and external colleagues at the project team and group level. Produce materials for technical reports, documents (including drawings and schematics), and presentations.
R&D Engineer 2 ($96,100 - $159,000) In addition to the duties outlined above, the R&D Engineer 2 will be required to: Take the lead in design, testing, fabrication, and installation of R&D projects including schedule development, cost estimates, and project status reports. Lead collaboration on designs with internal and external colleagues at the project, team and group level. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to team members.

Technical Expertise Technical expert in one or more of the following subjects: Electronic systems, embedded system programming, signal processing, microwave systems, RF systems, electromagnetic effects, electronic and/or mechanical and/or firmware reverse engineering, mechanical design and evaluation. Expertise in modeling one or more of the above phenomenologies noted above being measured Demonstrated experience formulating work plan, identifying project resources and executing R&D project.
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution related to the occupation. Up to 2 years of related experience may be desired. Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and 4 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Desired Qualifications: In addition to the minimum job requirements, candidates with expanded qualifications in any of the following areas are viewed favorably. Operational experience in one or more of these topics: microcontrollers, software-defined radio, antennae design and operation, electromagnetics, signal processing, Field-programmable gate arrays, VHSIC Hardware Description Language (VHDL), material-electronic systems integration, reverse engineering of electronic systems and/or firmware, and software engineering Experience with computer-based data-acquisition systems acquiring and analyzing data during experiments (e.g. LabView and/or MATLAB). Expertise in signal processing, data acquisition technologies, and statistical detection theory Demonstrated modeling and programming experience with Python, Matlab, C, or C++. Demonstrated knowledge of applied technology development and testing Advanced degree in engineering or related STEM field Active Q/SCI clearance
Clearance: TS//SCI (Position will be cleared to this level).
