As a member of the MPA-CINT team, you will be expected to conduct cutting-edge research in ultrafast optics, discovering the emergent optical and quantum phenomena in low-dimensional (e.g., two-dimensional (2D)) and bulk materials using tailored light-matter interactions from far-infrared to visible to deep-ultraviolet frequencies. You will be responsible for advancing R&D in the areas of photonics, quantum materials, nano-plasmonics, and metamaterials. You will develop state-of-the-art ultrafast optical experimental capabilities that can be leveraged to answer long-standing scientific questions and support the CINT user community by discovering scientific and technological innovations.
Scientist 4 $138,700 - $240,500
In addition to what was outlined at the Scientist 3 level, at the Scientist 4 level the successful candidate is required to have demonstrated strong research leadership with national/international recognition, as evidenced by high impact publications (including review papers and book chapters), invited seminars, and conference/committee leadership. An ideal candidate should have demonstrated ability to build diverse teams and serve as an institutional-level technical leader and mentor. The candidate is expected to have the ability to innovate new technologies that define technical direction by conceiving, planning and conducting research, and guiding development. In this position, the successful candidate will initiate large-scale projects to solve national technology challenges. Additional criteria include the ability to serve on national advisory and/or policy boards and to chair peer review committees at Laboratory or national level.
