Regular and swing-shift hours. NIE-TS provides telecommunication technologies and services enabling science, research programs, and daily operations at LANL. The group provides the entire Laboratory with voice, wireless, data, and video communication services. The selected candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the Broadsoft VoIP system and ancillary telephone components. The candidate will also perform network switch configurations, installation, and maintenance. The candidate will also have demonstrated experience with computer network hardware such as routers, firewalls, and the software associated with these types of devices. | | | | | | What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: Demonstrated experience performing system administration on production Linux systems. Linux operating system skills, RHEL6, 7 and or OEL6 Advanced knowledge of telecom hardware and software integration and testing. Knowledge of network switching and routing Experience implementing designs provided by engineering Experience participating in network and telecom system projects Understanding of troubleshooting principles regarding VoIP functions, networks, and general telephone services.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education, industry certification, and experience directly related to the occupation. Desired Qualifications: Understanding of VoIP security architecture & components (e.g. firewalls, session border controllers) Advanced knowledge of IP standards-based telecommunications protocols ( RSTP, SIP, RTP, TLS, SRTP, RTMP, SSL) Knowledge and experience with video surveillance systems Knowledge and experience with TDM telephony systems, specifically 5ESS and analog gateways Experience engineering a solution, deploying the solution, and documenting the solution Demonstrated experience with process development, delivery, and training Experience with web services Demonstrated ability to network effectively with other administrators and key contacts outside their area of expertise, both internal and external to the organization. Demonstrated ability to manage frequent interruptions and changing priorities calmly; complete assignments without established procedures; be available, dependable, and punctual; work independently.
Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM with the flexibility for the selected candidate to work from a location other than the primary location. Reporting onsite will be periodically required. Remote is at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
