Programmatic funding is expanding rapidly in core capability areas related to Nuclear Incident Response and Counterterrorism / Counter Proliferation Sciences. Projects will be conducted at Q and SCI level.
R&D Engineer 3 $115,500 - $194,900
The successful candidate will lead programs in support of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and Office of Nuclear Threat Science (NA-82). The candidate will work closely with the Laboratoriy’s Global Security Directorate (ALDGS) program offices on budget, planning, and execution. The selected candidate shall possess experience in Weapons Engineering, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and be capable of providing technical leadership to a multi-diciplinary team. They will also represent LANL at regularly scheduled program reviews and work collaboratively with their LLNL and SNL counter-parts. Additionally, the selected candidate would periodically participate in hands-on activities including hardware development, design, fabrication, and assembly.
R&D Engineer 4 $138,700 - $240,500
In addition to the R&D Engineer 3 level, the R&D Engineer 4 level will be expected to independently develop and direct projects, build teams across the Laboratory, and communicate at the highest levels with sponsor organizations and internal to LANL. They will serve as a technical mentor to early- and mid-career staff and represent group management as needed.

Position requires a Master’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and 6 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level a Ph.D. may be preferred.
R&D Engineer 4:
Position requires a Master’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and 12 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level a Ph.D. may be preferred.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
