The Sigma Operations Group (Sigma-OPS) is seeking an energetic, customer-focused individual to join our Programmatic Security team. The Operations Support Specialist will provide professional programmatic security and operational support, including but not limited to supporting the protection of classified information as well as managing physical and electronic access to the organization’s resources. The selected candidate will be expected to operate with initiative, professionalism, dependability, and flexibility within a dynamic organization. Sigma Division focuses on materials science and engineering, emphasizing metallurgical processes and research in support of the experimental testing program at Los Alamos. Sigma-OPS is a customer-based group that supports the programmatic operational needs of the Sigma Division. Operations Support Specialist 1 ($57,800 - $89,500) The successful candidate will be required to: - Provide administrative type support to access control in security areas, including maintaining system documentation and regulating and monitoring access to specific areas, rooms and facilities.
- Answer questions related to security operations and established security policy procedures as it relates to access control and the protection of classified matter.
- Safeguards classified materials and assists in the periodic inspection and inventory of classified matter.
- Compiles and reports on information relevant to security processes and revies documents for accurate content and appropriate grammatical usage.
- Answers questions related to security operations and established security policies and procedures.
Operations Support Specialist 2 ($69,500 - $110,300) In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level: - Make recommendations for security and safeguards measures, techniques and methods to assure and improve the protection of classified interests and assets.
- Apply Laboratory policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues related to security operations of moderately complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review o a variety of factors.
- Recommend and coordinate the acquisition, installation or replacement of equipment and material designed to increase efficiency of security operations.
- Provide backup support and assists other security personnel to fulfill projects and organizational objectives.
- Make necessary changes to training material and guidance provided to staff as security related policies and procedures change.
- Understand and adhere to laboratory and regulatory guidance and governance specific to physical security.
