Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is looking for an experienced SQL Server database administrator to join our Software Applications Engineering Group 1 (SAE-1). Database Administrator 2 ($79,200 - $129,000) The Database Administrator level 2 will report to the Sql Server First Line Supervisor within the Software Applications Engineering Group 1 (SAE-1). The candidate must have strong Sql Server database administration experience, organizational and problem solving skills and the ability work effectively within a team. The successful candidate should also have a strong desire to learn new technologies. Database Administrator 3 ($96,100 - $159,000) In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, the successful candidate at this level must have expert knowledge and experience in Sql Server database administration, be able to effectively mentor more junior team members, be able to lead complicated projects and be able to design and implement new, complex solutions. | | | | | | What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: Technical Knowledge Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, administering, securing, and troubleshooting current versions of SQL Server Demonstrated experience managing backups, disaster recovery, and performance tuning Experience using SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize service downtime Experience maintaining and creating new documentation as it relates to the database environment Experience automating repetitive administration tasks using a scripting or SQL based language Demonstrated experience following established standard operating procedures, configuration management, and security controls Ability to provide 24 x 7 on-call support as part of a scheduled rotation with other team members Collaboration We are looking for someone who can work well in a team-oriented environment with the ability to communicate and collaborate cross-functionally within and outside of the group. In addition, you must have effective interpersonal skills for communicating technical information, building relationships, and resolving conflicts. Education/Experience – level 2: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and four years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Education/Experience – level 3: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and eight years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level post-graduate coursework may be desirable. Desired Qualifications: Experience administrating other RDMS solutions including Oracle, MySQL, etc Experience administering SQL Server Analysis Services, Integration Services (SSIS), and/or Reporting Services Experience administering MS Internet Information Services (IIS) and other application server environments Experience with Windows server administration and configuration Experience implementing and configuring Always-On High Availability services Experience working within Scrum or some other Agile framework Interest in supporting other tech stacks including Oracle database and Middleware administration Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM.
