The selected Nuclear Materials Specialist will support ORI-2’s mission to reduce operational and programmatic risk across the Weapons Production missions through the assurance of proper processing, storage, control, disposition and distribution of special nuclear materials. Travel and off-site work may be required to meet position requirements and will vary depending on program needs. Nuclear Material Specialist 1 ($54,600-$84,500)Under the supervision and technical guidance from senior staff and/or management, the selected Nuclear Material Specialist will participate in the shipping and receipt of nuclear materials, nuclear materials inventory analysis, reporting, and forecasting to meet Laboratory and Department of Energy (DOE) customer needs. The selected NMS will become well versed in DOE Order 410.2 Management of Nuclear Materials compliance, along with additional governing policies, procedures and regulations. Nuclear Material Specialist 2 ($65,700-$104,400) In addition to the role described for a Nuclear Material Specialist 1, a Nuclear Material Specialist 2 will participate in deep-dive data analytics. The selected candidate will develop reports and presentations for management, program owners and stakeholders. In conjunction with data analysis, the selected candidate may identify opportunities for improvement and offer new methodologies for nuclear management activities. | | | | | | What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: Entry-level knowledge of data analysis - including planning, trending and reporting. Additional Job Requirements for Nuclear Material Specialist 2: In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires: Demonstrated proficinency in moderate complexity data analysis - including planning, trending and reporting. Demonstrated entry-level programming skills and querying capability - including development of technical solutions and approaches. Demonstrated experience with data visualization applications and techniques (graphs, charts, etc.). Experience in developing and fostering successful cross-organizational teams to solve complex problems. Advanced customer service experience rooted in strong oral and written communication skills. Proven proficiency managing sensitive or classified data. Demonstrated experience working in a highly regulated environment. Proven ability to strictly adhere to written compliance requirements. Demonstrated experience with nuclear materials management (e.g., material storage, control, shipping, or disposition) in accordance with DOE Order 410.2 Management of Nuclear Materials.
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Desired Qualifications: · Demonstrated experience with nuclear materials management (e.g., material storage, control, shipping, or disposition) in accordance with DOE Order 410.2 Management of Nuclear Materials. · Classified Matter Protection and Control Custodian (CMPC). · Experience using or programming relational and/or SQL Server databases.
