The Staff Operations Manager 3 will serve as the manager for SSO Division’s core professional staff and support the SSO Division Leader, Group Leaders, and Division Staff. SSO-DO is comprised of four diverse groups that oversee the operations of limited access high-security facilities both on-site at LANL and off-site at various US locations. SSO serves a wide population of Secret Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance holders and works to facilitate complex security operations while maintaining strict compliance requirements.
You will work closely with SSO division management to align work assignments of the professional staff with the strategic direction of the Division. Represent division management regarding administrative and operational aspects. Make a variety of high-level decisions in areas of delegated authority (e.g., planning and approving procurement processes and activities; monitoring and approving purchase responsibilities of staff; administering and communicating human resources (HR) requirements, engaging in strategic planning, and supporting security operations in fast-paced Special Access Program Facilities (SAPFs) and Secret Compartment Information Facilities (SCIFs) environments.
Other responsibilities may include, but are not limited to management functions (performance, attendance, training, etc.); oversight and approval of administrative operational efficiencies; time and labor; and assignment of authorities. Act as an interface with management on such issues as employee relations or conduct concerns; budget exercises; strategic staffing planning; administrative policy and procedural questions; performance and salary management exercises; recruiting/mobility initiatives; and succession planning. Ensure Contractor Assurance process implementation; participate in WSSET and other division-level administrative operations support projects/tasks, as needed.

Expert knowledge of, and successfully demonstrated experience in, developing, implementing, and managing innovation and process improvements.
Effective Communication
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external personnel. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including expert skills and proven experience in the preparation of reports, matrices, drafting and implementation of new process and procedures, preparing correspondence for executive level managers.
Clearance
Ability to obtain a DOE Q-Clearance and a TS/SCI security clearance
Education
Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
