This team is one of three Infrastructure Services teams within the Software and Applications Engineering Division (SAE). This group provides middleware, and application administration, as well as reporting, analytics, and application security services for LANL business and mission related systems. These systems support core business services, security, manufacturing, nuclear waste processing, data warehousing, training, facilities management, etc. This team is involved in the entire software lifecycle of the systems they support. Individuals who appreciate challenges, variety and have expertise in Middle tier technologies and who want to branch out and learn the complementary database management platforms or technologies are encouraged to apply. Database and Middle Tier Administrator 4 ($105,700 - $176,400) The successful candidate will be required to perform the following tasks: Provide expert level knowledge and operational support for middle tier administration, application administration including installation, configuration, and administration. Individuals who want to expand their skill sets across various middleware platforms as well as Oracle database administration are encouraged to apply Own, track, and resolve database, middle-tier, application-tier, network, and F5 Local Traffic Manager (LTM) related troubleshooting, incidents, and requests Effectively communicate work professionally with colleagues within the Infrastructure Services teams, SAE development groups, SAE and NIE divisions and LANL at large - this includes the ability to translate technical concepts to customers and non-technical audiences Establish and maintain security and integrity controls within the middle tiers, and applications Develop and maintain documentation as it relates to middle-tier, application tier and application security environments Participate in an on-call rotation to support after hour issues and planned work Collaborate and apply full understanding of the Middle-Tier and/or Oracle Database and Administration fields plus working knowledge of other related IT fields, such as software engineering, system administration, and networking to meet customer needs
| | | | | | What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: Expert level knowledge of Middle Tier platforms such as Weblogic, Tomcat, or JBOSS Expertise with Linux, Unix, and/or Windows Virtual Machines Expert level knowledge of Linux shell scripting, Powershell, Python or other relevant scripting languages Proficient knowledge of application administration concepts Expert level knowledge of core networking concepts and troubleshooting Demonstrated ability to independently evaluate technical approaches, develop plans, and work to schedule Proficient knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and processes Ability to partner with customers, and translate technical terms to layperson's terms and present them to audiences outside of the division
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Post-graduate coursework and/or professional certification(s) and/or equivalent combination of education and experience may be expected. Preferably a BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS or other technical degree with computer emphasis. Desired Qualifications: Familiarity using Oracle Enterprise Manager, or other COTS products for middle tier administration and automation Familiarity with Oracle Access Manager (OAM) administration or concepts Familiarity with SpringBoot and/or Kubernetes/Containers Familiarity with MicroStrategy or Denodo administration Experience or familiarity with the concepts of F5 BIG-IP LTM or some other application delivery controller technology
Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos,NM with the potential for teleworking from a location within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite will be periodically required. Telework is at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
