This position is within the Engineering Services Division Office (ES-DO) and is assigned to the Engineering Project Delivery (ES-EPD) Group. This group is responsible for implementing the Conduct of Engineering (COE) program at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The positions are in nuclear, accelerator or non-nuclear facilities across 26 miles of the Laboratory. The program elements include processes, standards, training, and qualifications that are generally applicable throughout the life cycle of a facility. They exist to effectively manage risks and satisfy customer requirements in a safe, secure, cost effective, and environmentally responsible manner. You will be working as part of a design team assessing, maintaining, and upgrading facility systems at LANL. Specific tasks will include developing contract documents consisting of design, drawings, specifications, calculations and special inspections in order to maintain the technical baseline for new and existing facility systems throughout the facility lifecycle. This will require interfacing and coordinating with all stakeholders including other engineering disciplines, equipment manufacturers and customers during design and construction. | | | | | | What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: Demonstrated proficiency in electrical I&C engineering, and design of new facilities and facility modifications. Design experience in nuclear, accelerator or industrial facility operations. Demonstrated ability to prepare calculations, applications of engineering methods, and Autocad drawings to facility and operations-based engineering problems. Working experience in design, testing , troubleshooting, and commissioning of building automation systems (BAS), ALC preferred, multizone control design, and chiller plants. Working experience in PLC control system design, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning. Experience in leading projects, interfacing with customers, resolving questions and issues with project team and customers, and delivering construction documents on time and budget. Demonstrated proficiency with the national codes and standards for I&C engineering. Familiarity of DOE standards applicable to facility design, operation, and maintenance. Demonstrated ability to communicate well, both written and verbally. Demonstrated ability to train and mentor junior engineers.
Education/Experience : Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university and a minimum of 6 years practical work experience to the degree necessary to perform the responsibilities outlined above. Advanced engineering or technical degree is highly desired. Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of DOE and LANL Engineering Standards and Conduct of Engineering principles and procedures. Familiarity with LANL engineering processes and procedures. PE certification in Mechanical/Control Engineering.
