- Lead the VMware vSphere design and implementation solutions and
- Lead the iPXE boot environments development, deployment, and management efforts
- Lead the Ansible virtualization development efforts
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members
This position will be filled at either a Solutions Architect 3 or Solutions Architect 4 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

- Excellent problem-solving, and communication skills
- Familiarity with iPXE boot environments
- Experience with Ansible and automation tools

- Familiarity with CI/CD processes and tools
- Basic scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, or PowerShell)
- Experience writing technical documentation for IT deployment, support and maintenance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to respond quickly to problems and to address rapidly changing priorities in a fast‐paced and dynamic environment
- Ability to obtain a Q clearance, which typically requires US Citizenship.
Additional Job Requirements for the Solutions Architect 4: In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
- Extensive experience with VMware vSphere environments or other virtualization solutions
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams and/or projects from inception through implementation.
- Extensive experience providing technical leadership.
Education/Experience for level 3: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Education/Experience for level 4: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in developing Ansible roles and playbooks
- Proficiency in Ansible Automation Platform and GitLab configuration management
- Experience with CI/CD processes and tools in a production environment
- Experience deploying systems with PXE/iPXE
- Advanced knowledge of networking concepts and protocols
- Currently hold a Q/SCI clearance

Work Location: The work location for this position is on-site and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Clearance: Q/SCI (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
