This position will work in partnership to manage interactions between C-AAC and the LANL Plutonium Facility. This position serves as a key interface, ensuring that all C-AAC teams working within Technical Area 55 (TA-55) comply with facility and conduct of operations requirements while completing mission objectives. PF-4 is an operational Hazard Category 2 nuclear facility. This position will require substantial collaboration with facility operations to ensure full compliance with all DOE and local requirements. The duties for this positions include, but are not limited to: Performing hands on glovebox work including chemical analysis and instrument operation approximately 50% of the time and FLM/ORS duties the remaining 50% of the time Perform work primarily for the heat source Pu )Pu-238) program, but for the Pu Sustainment (Pu-239) program as well Ensure compliant execution of work according to a master production schedule across manufacturing and engineering groups. Coordinate with stakeholders to address job tasking and resource requirements. The primary stakeholders of this position include C-AAC group management, C-AAC team leaders, and facility operations. Maintain functional analytical operations and provide regular updates to line management. Support the implementation of scheduling tools. Propose and lead solutions to mitigate work stoppages. Ensure worker qualification and authorization. Collaborate with facility operations staff to execute work in compliance with safety, security, quality, and conduct of operations nuclear facility requirements. Manage time effectively to deal with changing priorities. Work with group management and team leaders to resolve conflicting demands. Demonstrate effective teamwork in accomplishing objectives, including mentoring and motivating peers.
The successful candidate will report to the C-AAC group office. This group is responsible for chemical analysis and chemical certification of products generated in the plutonium facility. | | | | | | What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: o Minimum of a BS degree. o 4 Years of Nuclear Experience (Education or experience that is job related may be substituted on a case-by-case basis. The degree may fulfill 3 of the 4 years of nuclear experience on a one-for-one time basis.Demonstrated record of successful Knowledge and/or experience in chemical dissolutions, radiochemical separations, alpha and gamma spectrometry sample preparation and counting, FRAM, DC Arc spectrometry, UV-VIS spectrophotometry, and interstitial analysis of plutonium materials. Understanding/experience with data quality assurance, data reduction, data review and approval, LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) use. Substantial experience working in a research or production laboratory. Demonstrated ability to work independently as a leader of small groups with specific deliverables including excellent communication, organizational, planning, and scheduling skills. The degree may fulfill 3 of the 4 years of nuclear experience on a one-for-one time basis. Demonstrated record of successful technical leadership and proven ability in supervising, resolving conflicts, administering discipline, menoting, team building, managing staff requirements, motivating employees, and developing personnel such as students and/or early career scientists and engineers. Demonstrated experience in coordinating work activities. Demonstrated experience planning for and managing tactical execution of work; tracking and reporting progress. Thorough knowledge of and experience performing work in a manufacturing environment and executing work in compliance with facility requirements, conduct of operations, conducts of engineering, and conduct of maintenance standards. Demonstrated experience working with confidential or proprietary information, classified documents or sensitive information. Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills as evidenced by internal and/or external interactions, seminars, briefings, presentations, and/or publications Demonstrated interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with all levels of personnel and customers. Ability to obtain a Q clearance, which usually requires US citizenship.
Education/Experience: Position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years of related experience with 4 years of Nuclear experience ; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, generators and professional staff. Demonstrated experience executing work in compliance with facility requirements. Thorough knowledgeable of Integrated Work Management (IWM) and integrated safety and security management (ISSM) procedures. Experience with nuclear high hazard facility operating requirements, safety authorization basis and/or Conduct of Operations planning and execution. DOE Q Clearance and HRP Certification highly desirable Advanced degree in analytical and/or radiochemistry
