As a post-baccalaureate student, you will contribute to a variety of materials research projects. In this role, you will be working side-by-side with a mentor to identify areas in which you can both learn and provide much-needed research support. You will also collaborate with other research scientists, research engineers, post-doctoral researchers, research technologists, research technicians, and students which will enable you to gain a broad understanding of the work performed at LANL.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
· Experience with scripting using general-purpose programming languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Perl, Tcl, R, or other relevant language.
· Cursory knowledge of data collection, processing, and analysis.
Education/Experience:
· BS/BA Degree from an accredited program in engineering, physics, chemistry, materials science, or related field completed within the past 3 years with a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Desired Qualifications:
· A strong background in Python is not necessary but a willingness to learn and apply Python for our purposes is essential.
· Familiarity with materials characterization techniques (e.g., DSC, TGA, TMA, and DMA).
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently to meet programmatic milestones and scientific goals.
Additionally, our group will offer guidance and training to help develop these skills.
